Performing Arts

Lessons:                                                                                                                                                         

One Hour Weekly: Students participate in a one hour Performing Arts lesson each week. Learning activities in the lessons combine music with Tuned and Untuned instruments, Body Percussion, Singing, Dancing, Drama Movement and Speech. Students explore and express ideas, they practise technical skills and develop confidence through performance to a class or whole school and community audience.

 

Additional School Wide Events:

Assemblies: Musical items presented e.g. National Anthem, special days e.g. ANZAC Day 

School Concert: An annual event with the whole school performing on the Eastbank stage. Year Levels collaborate to plan, choreograph, and perform items with Music, Dance, and Drama.         

Visiting Artists: Live performances each year for students to enjoy as an audience or participate with an interactive show.

 

Extra Performing Arts Opportunities:

Harmony Day: A cultural diversity celebration for all students to proudly share or perform music from their own cultures. 

GPS Talent Competition:  A fun way for students of all ages to demonstrate any talents, in a supportive environment where all efforts are applauded.

School Choir: Year 2-6 students passionate about singing team together in weekly lunchtime sessions to improve their technique and work towards performances.

Keyboard Practise: Sessions available for students who have piano lessons or students who are keen to further their interests with independent practise at lunchtime.
